Silver Birch
Silver Birch has bright green foliage that turns to a pale yellow in Autumn. The trunk is a grey colour when young gradually turning to white. It produces long hanging pale green catkins.
This tree is moderate growing so it is well suited to street plantings, parks and gardens. Can also be used as a specimen tree or clumped together to form a forest effect.
Prefers a moist, well drained soil in sun to part shade but will tolerate short periods of wet and dry. If pruning make sure it is in summer or autumn. Refrain from pruning in winter or spring as this causes profuse 'bleeding'. Grows between 8-10m high x 3-5 m wide.
